Hagen, favorite of travelers who want to experience the different lifestyle of people from the Highlands; New Britain island, which is surrounded by the most magnificent diving spots in the world; Madang, a small town famous for its big population of bats, and Wewak, home to Papua New Guinea's Sepik people.
Situated in south of the Equator, climate in Papua New Guinea fluctuates from warm to humid throughout the year. The air is unpolluted, and the breeze smells of sweet tropical sunshine. Hence clothing should be breathable and somewhat thin. Residents usually just wear shorts and open shirts. In some establishments, of course, smart casual to formal clothing is required. The Highlands is very cold in the evening, so sweaters and jackets are also worn.
During the evening too, the country is very quiet, exuding a small town,very rural atmosphere. In urban regions, however, there are a number of entertainment establishments open up to midnight. Luxury hotels also have bars and pubs, most of them located in Port Moresby.
